Start of Sophomore Boys Race at Six Sigma

Last week was the final race for the 2018/2019 season for the Contra Costa Composite (CCC) Mountain Bike Team. You may not know this but I started a High School Mountain Bike Team last year (in 2018) but this past season (2018/2019) was our first season racing in the High School league which is all under NICA (National Interscholastic Cycling Association). NICA is the sanctioning body for all the High School MTB teams across the country and locally, we are part of the NorCal League which is comprised of 80+ teams.

CCC MTB Team stated this season with just under 10 riders from schools all over Contra Costa. As a composite team, we are the team that students can ride on if their school doesn’t have a team. On CCC, we have riders from Berean Christian, Ygnacio Valley, North Gate, De La Salle, Las Lomas, Acallanes, and Spring Stone High School. The season has 5 races from February to May and the 6th race of the season is the championship race held in SoCal where both NorCal and SoCal riders can compete.

Our final race was of the league was Six Sigma which was held in Lower Lake County (Clear Lake) on Mother’s Day (thank you moms!). Our riders all had great races with the two top finishes going to Oliver Lane (Sophomore at Acalanes) who finished 8th and Caden Crabtree (Freshman at Ygnacio Valley) who finished 12th.

I’d like to thank our sponsors and team coaches for making all of this possible. Our team sponsors are The Conco Companies, Comerica Bank, Encina Bicycle Center, A Plus Tree, Crunch Gym, Lee & Associates Commercial Real Estate Services, and Hammer Nutrition. Every team has to raise the money needed to make their season possible and the above list is who helped make our first season successful. Thank you. The team coaches are myself, Warren Lane, and Andrew Bodisco.

All smiles at the end of a great race and season
